Infographic: mobile app or website?

Alterian has waded into the mobile web vs app debate with a nice, tube map-style infographic which takes the view that a mobile website is the way forward.

We've talked about the apps vs web debate on this blog for some time, and we tend to lean towards a mobile website, certainly as a first step into mobile commerce, but we also think there is plenty of room for both.

As Stefan Tornquist wrote in a recent post on the issue, there is a middle ground here, and apps still have a role in companies' retention strategies, if there is a compelling reason to download and use them.

Smartphone users prefer SMS offers: infographic

The majority of smartphone users are open to receiving marketing messages on their smartphones, but just 15% are open to offers from third party advertisers, according to stats.

According to Upstream's stats, Despite the variety of mobile marketing techniques available, it seems that SMS is still effective, with 75% of respondents preferring to receive offeres through this channel, compared with mobile internet (15%) and in-app ads (10%).

12 kickass SEO infographics

At Econsultancy HQ, we’re loving infographics in a big way. After all, what’s not to like? They’re great visual breakdowns of complex information,  far better than standard data charting, and are often extremely creative in their representations.

15 more awesome social media infographics

About six months ago, I threw together a blog post based on a bunch of social media infographics. At the time, they were surprisingly difficult to root out, but it seems that more are emerging, given the continued development and understanding of the channel.

I've now collected a few more newer infographics that I feel demonstrate a mixture of both hard data and strategy practices. Hopefully, they'll also provide some inspiration or can be useful in helping you with presentations or pitches. As before, links to the actual graphics are in the headline titles.

Eight cool social media infographics

Yesterday I noticed quite cool infographic being passed around online. Made by the guys at Trendstream, it maps social media access and involvement around the world.

I love infographics. I think they’re a smart, creative way of displaying data in a way that’s easy to understand and is engaging. I’ve also noticed that they seem to be becoming more common, permeating not only technical subjects, where they seem to have originated from, but other areas, such as mainstream media, design and of course, the internet.

So, inspired by the newest of social media infographics, I thought it might be useful to collect some of the better examples in one place as a source of inspiration and information. Links to the actual graphics are in the headline titles.
