Is love is in the air? The countdown to Valentine's Day is on! What are people planning to do to celebrate? In our latest www.tada.co.uk study on Valentine’s Day we asked just that. We surveyed 2,195 people and found that Cupid has his work cut out for him as more than half those surveyed are not planning to celebrate at all. 56% of those citing that the main reason is because ‘They don’t believe in Valentine’s Day’. Come on Cupid, prove to them that romance is not dead!
So will people manage to find the perfect gift for their loved ones? We asked people about their ideal Valentine’s gift and made an interesting discovery. Neither men nor women will be receiving their ideal gifts this year.
Men are on the right track and will be spot on purchasing jewellery or flowers for their Valentines. However gentlemen please think twice about ‘treating’ them to lingerie or chocolates. Women will not only spend less than men but they will also need a little more guidance on that perfect present. Ladies be warned that none of the men polled wanted chocolates or stuffed animals.
SOME INTERESTING FACTS TO SHARE:
Both sexes put trips on the top of their most wanted list: 52% of women and 61% of men.
62% of men spend more than £50, 50% of women spend less than £50.
30% of shoppers find Valentine’s Day to be romantic, while 37% of them also say that Valentine’s Day is too commercial.
Men also find Valentine’s Day cheesy, stressful, and annoying—women are more likely to think Valentine’s Day is fun.
Women most want a trip away and least want chocolate.
Men most want a trip away and least want chocolate or stuffed animals.
Top Tip: Trips and mini-breaks top “most wanted” lists for both sexes, with 61% of women and 52% men itching for a romantic trip or weekend away instead of a stuffed bear or chocolates.
