g8wave, the UK’s premier mobile entertainment, marketing and gateway services provider, has launched ‘Be The Boss’ – a weekly SMS-based mobile football game. The game allows brand owners and mobile operators to offer their customers the chance to be the manager of their dream Premiership eleven and in doing so, build a significant revenue stream from the service.
g8wave offers the hosting and billing platform that enables brand owners to operate Be The Boss via their own mobile channel to the subscriber. With g8wave’s outpayment collection the highest in the industry, Be The Boss is unique mobile content that offers a guaranteed revenue stream.
Alisdair Anderson, g8wave’s sales director said; “Football is the most popular sport in this country and with Euro 2004 happening this summer, this is an ideal time for portal owners and mobile operators to offer this unique game to customers and subscribers. With a winner each and every week, client specific spot prizes and premium rate SMS billing, Be The Boss is an ideal addition to a mobile entertainment portfolio offering.”
“g8wave is committed to delivering content that will generate a premier revenue stream from end users and Be The Boss just the latest example of this.”
Be The Boss uses a unique scoring system and is the only mobile service using the OPTA index, the official team and player performance stats for the Premiership. Advertisements for the game will carry a joincode which consumers send via SMS text to a short code. They then receive a message back with a password and URL. On the website they log-in using their mobile number and password and then can select their team, starting by selecting a formation and then pick a set number of defenders, midfield etc up to the full eleven players. Players can be selected from the English Premiership teams. The team is then saved and can be ‘played’ each round of Premiership games. Each round the player is given the option to play the team in the next competition. It costs ₤1.50 for every team played.
