12 outstanding mobile customer experiences

I was privileged to hear Avinash Kaushik speak at Syzygy's excellent Digital Innovation Day last week.

Avinash discussed some of his favourite mobile experiences.

Here are 12 of them.

12 of my favourite ad campaigns from the last 12 months

A look at the most interesting, captivating and successful ad campaigns that straddled the latter half of 2014 and the front half of 2015.

Normally something like this is reserved for the traditional year-end lists, however the period between June 2014 and this month is the eligibility period of The Masters of Marketing awards, so I thought this was a good enough excuse to buck with tradition.

Why I love the new Geico ‘Unskippable’ ad campaign

We don’t talk an awful lot about ad campaigns on the blog. We’re more about the delivery of them.

Where they work? What formats work best? What the heck does programmatic mean? It’s mostly ‘measurable ROI’ rather than the actual content of the ad itself.

However, just like when the excellent BLAH Airlines campaign from Virgin came along, every so often you have to take advantage of your blogging power, sit back and share something you love purely because it’s really clever.

So here’s the new campaign from Geico, which gloriously subverts everything you thought you knew about YouTube pre-roll ads.

Eight brands scaring your pants off this Halloween

Better lock the doors, turn off all the lights and cling to your favourite comfort blanket, Halloween is getting closer.

Whether on video, social, or just giving their website a spooky little makeover, brands are doing some fittingly disturbing things this year.

Here’s a round-up of some of my favourites.

Top 20 most shared video ads of 2013

It’s late November, so we’re comfortably past the point where people are no longer agitated that ‘best of the year’ lists are starting to appear already.

In fact I’ve already got my 'Best Korean Pop Albums' and 'Favourite Men’s Health Straplines (abs category)' lists all lined up and ready to go. In a listicle heavy year, this Winter will be the ultimate in year-end countdown meltdown, or Listageddon as I’m pushing for the late November period to be renamed.

Hot off the presses today (I'm sure there's a more up-to-date cliche then that) and towering above the rest is Unruly with its Top 20 most shared ads of 2013.

This one’s good because it’s based on fact, not the opinion of some feckless pundit.
